Yearlong guide apprenticeship

For full program apprenticeship, all the skills of the training will be practiced over the course of the year with teens. Yearlong apprentices will join regular programming and camping trips as well as summer trip for their group.

Assist and lead games, skills, group process
Help guide backpacking trip
Practice skills of trip-leading and preparation
Learn from experienced guides
Gain practice facilitating youth in circle time
Engage in ceremony with elders

Week-long ceremonial apprenticeship

For week-long apprenticeship, skills of the training will be focused on facilitating a ceremony-based rites of passage program. We’ll be weaving backpacking and solo time with land care and ceremony with elders.

*This apprenticeship will be joining our 8th grade capstone trip, backpacking and camping for ceremony. Youth will be going on solo and we will all be preparing for Temescal (traditional Mayan sweat lodge with elder and wisdom keeper Tat Erick Gonzales at Deer Mountain Sanctuary).
